Career Services

Ruda Cohen & Associates offers an array of services aimed at helping individuals make critical career choices.  At the heart of our approach is an effort to facilitate individuals’ own decisions about their careers, rather than urge them to follow what we feel is the right path.  After all, it is your career, so you should be the one making the ultimate decisions.  Thoughtful questions on our part and an effort to broaden your awareness of different options simply makes those decisions easier to make.  Once you have reached some firm decisions, we can also assist in your planning efforts and guide you through the stages of follow-through toward your career goals.

Our services fall into three distinct areas:

Career Counseling Making career decisions and following through on them is seldom simple.  With so many options available, it can be easy to make a poor choice.  On the other hand, you may know what you want out of a career, but are unsure of how to get there.  With these potential roadblocks in mind, we use a five-step process to guide and assist you in realizing your career ambitions:

  1. Carefully evaluate your interests, goals, strengths and areas for development.

  2. Explore career options that provide a fit with who you are and what you seek to accomplish.

  3.  Identify specific career goals and establish a long-term plan for achieving them.

  4. Develop specific skills and abilities that will aid your professional growth.

  5. Gauge your continued progress and periodically re-evaluate your goals.

Included in this process are an assessment interview, personality surveys and a number of career planning resources.

Career Enhancement This service is similar in scope to our Career Counseling services, but is aimed at employees of our client organizations.  Almost any career-minded individual can benefit from the process including:

  • Employees looking for new challenges

  • Individuals curious to explore their capabilities and potential

  • Valuable contributors who have begun to experience burnout

  • Employees who want to strategically manage their careers

  • Individuals looking to identify alternate career paths within the organization

The outcome of the process can vary from making simple adjustments in existing responsibilities to undertaking a major shift in careers.

Outplacement Our outplacement services help individuals successfully navigate the experience of being discharged.  Personalized, professional service is provided from the moment of termination until the time the individual finds a new position that best fits his or her skills and interests.  Our process treats the individual with dignity and respect.  It also provides direction and builds confidence to tackle new professional challenges.  From the organization’s perspective, our process offers a way to handle termination in a compassionate manner and reduces the possibility of litigation.

Our outplacement process begins with addressing the emotional impact of being discharged.  Then, we assist individuals in taking stock of themselves and their careers and setting a clear direction for the future.  Next, we help them put their best foot forward and navigate their way through the job market.  Finally, once a new job has been secured, we provide ongoing support to ease the transition back into the workplace.
